About Us

中央研究院之研究宗旨在於追求學術卓越，提升我國學術科技之水準及國際地位，並將研發技術產品落實在產業上，厚植我國產業發展基礎，促使我國成為亞太地區科技產業之研發與營運重鎮。 本院為推動水產生物技術、基因轉殖、生理生態、免疫和魚病防治等相關領域之科技研發工作，於八十六年即定案在宜蘭縣礁溪鄉興建「中央研究院細胞與個體生物學研究所臨海研究站」，基地係由金車公司捐地1.1公頃。 臨海研究站隸屬於中央研究院細胞與個體生物學研究所，其成立之宗旨在配合當前科學發展，以現代生物學為基礎，輔助應用科學之發展，以協助政府達成富裕民生的國策。 本研究站係由本院細胞與個體生物學研究所負責規劃、興建。主要設施包括精密儀器室、多功能實驗室、基因轉殖、魚病免疫及生理生態等試驗池、海淡水供水處理系統, 生物攔截以及排放水處理等各項最先進的水產生物技術研究設施。是目前國內最先進，專供水產生物研究及技術研發的臨海研究站。研究站除提供中央研究院生命科學門各研究所使用外，並已開放給國內外其他相關之學術研究機構及學者申請使用。本研究站在提升台灣在水產生物技術基礎研究的水準，增強水產生物產業之競爭力，同時對提升宜蘭地區之學術風氣，人才培育及科技發展已開始扮演輔佐的角色。

The Marine Research Station was planned in 1997 with the donation of land from King Car Group and under the auspices of Institute of Cellular and Organismic Biology with the purpose of promoting research in five major areas: aquatic biotechnology, transgenic animals, sensory physiology, immunology and fish disease, that are vital to the development of aquaculture in the I-Lan area. It is expected the outputs of these research projects should also benefit the overall development of aquaculture industry in Taiwan.

The Marine Research Station is equipped with many state-of-the art facilities including RT-PCR, auditory brainstem response (ABR) recording system, microspectrophotometer (MSP), patch clamp, whole brain slicer, electroporation, epifluorescence microscope, 2-D gel system, wet labs, outdoor fish tanks, seawater and freshwater treatment systems, and biohazard removal and sterilization system. The MRS has in-house research staff and it also opens up its research space and facilities to both domestic and overseas scientists to promote collaboration. Internship are also available to high school, college and graduate students to foster the intellectual development of students.
